Part of our new sustainable range, the Jam stool has legs made from truly sustainably sourced solid beech. The beech tree used in this stool used to stand proudly near to the small town of Newcastle Emlyn in West Wales. This tree was felled by Mother Nature during the December 2013 storms better known as Cyclone Xaver. She had spent generations providing shade and beauty for the local community but was no match for the ferocity of Xaver. The timber is a beautiful combination of knots burls and cracks. Each plank has its own charm. We carefully select the cuts to ensure we retain the character of the tree. The timber is finished with our own recipe 100% natural beeswax polish.
The tops of the stools are carefully designed and constructed using folded mild steel. We have engineered these parts to ensure they are structurally sound and sustainably optimised.
Each stool is unique and will differ from the picture due to the nature of the timber. However, all the timber has the same origin so you can be assured it will retain the same character.
The stool measures 450mm high x 410mm square at the base. The seat area is 325mm square.
A slot in the seat allows the stool to be carried easily and contoured folds in the top surface create a comfortable dished profile.
It’s a real privilege to work with timber with such an amazing story and a real joy to give it new meaning and a new life. We love this Sustainable Beech Stool and we hope you do too : )
